MKC Members Take Their Dogs
to Local Schools
Volunteer MKC members recently helped the Director of
Humane Education for the Delaware SPCA present a special
program about dog care at two Georgetown elementary schools.
On March 16, Margie Klapper and Phoebe attended the
morning sessions for kindergarteners and pre-kindergarteners
at the Howard T. Ennis school while Jerry Maiman, Sandy and
Billy attended the afternoon session. After Scott Vogel's
special presentation, Margie and Phoebe (and later Jerry,
Sandy and Billy) talked about their dogs and answered the
children's questions. Then, as the children left the
classroom to continue their day, they petted the dogs, using
their new dog-greeting skills Scott had taught them. The
following day, Margie and Phoebe, Sharon Dorman and Bree,
and Sandy Moody and Cheron helped Scott with two
presentations at Georgetown Elementary School.
Margie, Sharon, Sandy, and Jerry all agree that it was
a lot of fun to share their dogs with both the children and
staff of the schools. The adults enjoyed the visits as much
as the children, and the dogs were wonderful representatives
of MKC!
